After the presentation i was told and advice by the tutors that i lost my focus from the large assets and started to concentrate on the small assets. so i went a step back and planned how to get the buildings done as i had a few. So i decided to get at least three or four buildings done every week with it being fully textured. taking all the great comments and advice from the tutor, I started to model a building straight away and unwrapped it and now going to start to texture it but, I'm going to keep updating as i go along...here are some snapshots of the progression...
this is with out the high poly bake which is going to be added...

here is a quick snapshot after its been unwrapped with the checkers as its material...
now that the UVW is done i am ready to do a high poly version and use it as a Normal map....

Anyway i did the brick separately for my high poly version which i then merged on to the building and started to merge it around the side wall. i didn't cover it all as i could do that on the UVW but here is a quick results of the high poly version. I am going to bake it onto the low poly and update my results when the normals are completely finished.
Here are some snapshots of my work in progress...
After the normals where done i was ready to texture the model anyway i completely finished my normal, diffuse and ambient occlusion but i just got the spec left to do. so it's still work in progress but soon as i get that done, i will export it into UDK which will be in my next blog with another model but i will use this building twice but have different texture and color to it... one might be accessible as well so i would have to tweak some bits and bobs.
Here are some renders...im quite happy with the end results as i got the normal to come exactly as i wanted that's the thing i like about high poly bake you get to completely design the normal as you want but the only downfall is, it takes longer but i will certainly guarantee the end result wont let you done. before i show the renders here is a quick picture of the actual building but i have changed bits and bobs and not copied the building completely.
FEEDBACK
ReplyDeleteIzzy, I'm not sure what you've done with the brick texture. Did you do a z brush model of it and generate a normal map?
basically i did a high poly version of the bricks and then used it as normals....
