UDK.....snapshots.

Okay i started to export everything into UDK and shifted things around to the way i want my game level. i also started to model other assets like some houses and pathway etc. but i still need to edit some houses that are on the udk but i am currently working on a new house at the moment but this is what i did from yesterday till today. uploading everything into udk could be time consuming anyway here are some snapshots of udk and some assets that i modeled. I've done another 2 houses so far that are work in progress but soon as they finished i will upload them on to the blog and UDK.

As you could see the empty areas where the character could fall off and get him self killed would be all blocked by either buildings, gates or assets....

More modelling.....

My main focus would be modelling the main buildings which i am currently doing but i lost track as i have to model other assets that give the finishing touch or some assets that are small but it connects everything together if that makes sense. Anyway from modelling buildings i went back into modelling the gate which will be on the side of the building and i will then start on modelling the next building.

here is a snap shot of the gate i have modeled...

now that i have modeled the gate i will export it into UDK and start modelling the other building that i planned to model.

here are some snapshots i have taken with more assets added to the udk. As you could see at the end where its clear it would be filled with buildings and some interior buildings. i would print this out and re-edit it with some quick sketches and go back to town and get some more reference.. im just goin to get cracking with the buildings from now on...

After Feed back!...

okay i carried on with the fruits and kept doing other things on the side like messing around in UDK to get the layout of my level and then i came across Mike Feedback comment and he was right i moved from the big picture to the small assets so i then decided to start modelling the buildings that are inaccessible but just view able from the outside. i will try to model it in 2days and texture it within a day so that's a total of 3days. i got another 8 different buildings that i need to model. So i will be busy for the past weeks on modelling the buildings and arranging them in to UDK. Soon as i get my layout done, I would then think of the small assets and what will interact with the player etc.

here is a quick snap shot of the first building that im modelling...WIP...

some buildings would be duplicated but with different texture page but for now i will try to get this completed and textured and exported into UDK which i will show in my next blog.

I have finally started to put things into the UDK and im starting to visualize my level. all i got to do now is crack on with work...

What have you been doing?

okay as i mentioned on my previous blog that i was going to go back on this asset and re-arrange the flowers but i didn't now i was going to re-texture it. so i started to add more light and details on to the diffuse and the rest and the result was much better than my previous renders. so im pretty glad i did so and i do not think that i wasted any time what so ever as the end result was a success.

anyway i started to model some fruits. Well to start with, i modeled some banana's that are not textured i have just put a basic paint on top but the fruit would be rotten and other fruits would be in the scene which i will be modelling very soon as there is a bazaar in the scene it would be pretty cool to have some assets that the player could interact with by shooting it etc.

so far i have six fruits in mind and they are
-apple
-watermelon ( i want to have the player to shoot the watermelon and have the inside bits to splash out which i will be working on for d next few days same with the pineapple) going to be interesting i guess.
-pears
-pineapples
-Kiwi
-oranges
and
-banana
As every fruits have a fruit basket i modeled a fruit basket and textured it completely which i will not have to go back to. this will be kind of my daily thing where i model three assets and have one or two assets textured. texturing takes longer than you think but i am happy the way this has come out and now ready to watch some tutorials how to smash up fruits and start to model them.
if i round all my assets up together i would have around 90-100assets possibly more or less, it depends really but i decided to model 15assets each week and have at least 5 or more textured. this would be my weekly task and when i come to texturing the big buildings i will model one each day that would be textured also...Im going to calculate it all and come to an conclusion which will be on my next blog, see you soon.

bit and bobs

okay, i started my day modelling this barrier and i thought of texturing as i go along and re-edit some bits if it need so, that is when i got few spare days to tweak bits.

As some of my areas would be blocked off i decided to model this type of barrier as the pllayer wouldn't be able to jump over it and keep him in the playable area. i added diffuse, specular and ambient occlusion but i did not add normal as i didn't need to and and i kept all the size 512x512 but the model are not to scale on UDK but will be soon as its uploaded.

Soon after i did another assets with some plants etc. but i the model shown below is not the original as i have changed the plants around and took some out, because to me the plants look to repetitive but the mistake is covered and it will be uploaded very soon as for now i added the diffuse, specular, normal and alpha and the size of the texture is 512x512

the two assets above took longer than i thought but its done and dusted and i don't have to look back at it as I'm texturing along the way that's the reason why its taking longer than usual.

Here is another model i have modeled straight after the above asset. this is a shop sign board WIP.

more yet to come...

Some Progression

okay i modeled this some time ago just been really ill for the past 2weeks anyway i decided by the end of this week i should get it most of it into Unreal Development Kit and my focus will be getting most of the main buildings that are inaccessible in 2weeks. At the moment i have bad quality images, so i thought i might pop down to westbrom and Birmingham to get more reference that would suit my game level. I'm happy that i set myself with a task which is to get majority of the buildings that are inaccessible modeled by 2weeks. i felt very lost for the past few days and this illness hasn't really helped. I went to the hospital and they gave me some medication so, soon as i get well i will be back on it=)

here is a quick snapshot of the building i am still modelling...

Progression.....

Sorry for the delay in uploading my blogs I have been really ill for the past week and now finally recovering anyway over the weekend I went back home for many reasons but I thought it be great if I went to my local town and took some pictures. After I got some pictures it gave me more ideas and made me understand what I needed to do. The asset spreadsheet started to fill up which I was certainly happy about as I needed to start modelling some assets as soon as possible cause I feel real behind due to the illness.

Anyway here are some more assets that I have modelled and I started to put everything into UDK, so carrying on with the white box I thought to take it to UDK and start exporting assets as UDK will give me a better understanding from a player’s point of view.

Here are some snapshots...

here are more renders of some assets that i have modeled on 3D Max but i am going to take it all into UDK and set them around as i mentioned earlier to give my self a better understanding from a players point of view. As for tomorrow blog i should get a few more assets done and get all my assets exported into UDK and get the main walk through done on UDK.
